Word Pad 

Introduction :-If you are a greenhorn in the computer field, then you need to learn about Word Processor. The best program to start with is Microsoft WordPad.

A word processor is a program used to process, format, and store documents like letters, memos, reports, curriculum vitae and many more. It is also capable of producing a print out of the results.Though WordPad is rarely used as people use the latest and improved Microsoft Office, this should be your best bet if you want to learn about Microsoft Word fast.Another good thing about WordPad is that it comes embedded with the operating system.So you don’t have to spend even a single cent if you already don’t have Microsoft Word installed on your computer.

Explain Layout

Wordpad window detail

Title Bar:-   The title bar is a horizontal bar located at the top of a window in a GUI.

Menu Bar:- The menu bar is located immediately below the title bar and provides access to Wordpad option menus. 

Standard Toolbar:- Standard toolbar. Contains buttons that are shortcuts to some commonly used menu items.

Formatting Toolbar:-The formatting toolbar provides access to several text formatting functions such as font size and color, text alignment, lists, and the like.

Ruler:- In WordPad, the ruler helps you measure the length of a line of text, and align text or other objects on a page. 

Task Pane :- A task pane is a dockable dialog window feature available in Microsoft Office, beginning with XP. 

Scroll Bar:- A standard scroll bar is located in the non client area of a window. It is created with the window and displayed when the window is displayed.

Status Bar:- The Word status bar displays the current page number of the document, total pages, number of words, and if there are any proofing errors. 

Using  button in WordPad 

Click here to  open save or print  and to see everything else you can do with your Document. WordPad contains the option- New, Open, Save, Save as, Print, Page setup, Send in Email, About WordPad and exit. 

New-We can insert a new document by using the new Option. This command is used to create new file. Shortcut for this option is CTRL+N.

Open-
This Option is used Open a saved file. Shortcut for this option is CTRL+O.

Save–
This Option is used Save a Current File. Shortcut for this option is CTRL+S.

Save As –
This Option is used to save a Current file. Which is already saved, with different name /location/format Shortcut for this option is ALT + F + A. This option is used for make duplicate file and save file indifferent format like RTF, XML Document, Open document text, Plain text, and others format.

Print-
This option contains Print, Quick print and Print preview. a- Quick Print: Sent document directly to the default printer. Shortcut for this option is CTRL+P. 

Page Setup
This option is used for change layout setting.

Exit –
This Option is used to Close the Current document. Shortcut for this Option is ALT+F4.

Using Home Tab in WordPad

Type of Home Clipboard

Paste –  This Option is used to insert Previously copied/cut text/picture at cursor point.

Cut – 
Cut the selection text or picture from the document. Put it on the clipboard. Shortcut key for this option is CTRL+X.

Copy -
Copy the selection and put it on the clipboard Shortcut Key for this option is CTRL+C.  
Font:- This group contains font face, font size, Grow font,Shrink Font, Bold, Italic, Underline, Strikethrough, Subscript, Super script, Text highlight color, Font color.

Font style
-Change  the font style. This particular list consistsof all the fonts that you can choose to create your document. Scroll down the list and you’ll find even more fonts.

Font size –
  Change the font size.

Grow font -
Increase  the font size. Shortcut for this Option is CTRL + SHIFT + >.  

Shrink font –
Reduce the font size. Shortcut for this option is CTRL + SHIFT + <.

Bold
– Change to an Bold font. Shortcut for this option is  CTRL+B.

Italic –
Change to an Italic font. Shortcut for this Option is CTRL+I.

Underline – Draw a line below the text. Shortcut for this Option is CTRL+U.

Strikethrough –
Draw a line through a text. Use for draw a line through the middle if selected text.

Subscript -
Draw the text smaller and lower than regular text. Shortcut for this Option is (CTRL+=).

Superscript -
Draw the text smaller and higher then regular text. Shortcut for this Option is  (CTRL + +).

Text highlight color -
Make text look like it was mark with a highlight Pen.

Text color -
Change text color.

Paragraph - This group contains Decrease Indent, increase Indent, Start a list, Align Left, Align Right, Center and Justify

Decrease Indent -
  Decrease the Indent level of the paragraph.

Increase Indent - 
Increase the Indent level of the paragraph.Star a list (bullets) - Click the arrow to Choose different list style.

Line Spacing  - Change the spacing between line of txt. Add or remove the space after paragraph

Align
Place your cursor over each one for a description, then try them. Highlight some text by clicking on it three times in quick succession. Then click on one of the aligning tools to see where the text moves to.

Left align
- Align text to the left. CTRL+L

Center align -
Align text to the center. CTRL+E 

Right align -
Align text to the right. CTRL+R 

Justify -
Align text to both left and right margins, adding extra space between words as necessary. This create a clean look along the left and right side of the page. CTRL+J 

Paragraph  -
Show the paragraph dialog box.

Insert:-
This group contains Picture, Paint Drawing, Date and time, Insert Object 

Picture -
Insert picture from file.We can change the inserted picture by change picture  option.We can change the horizontal and vertical size of image by resize picture option.

Paint drawing – By this option we can Insert drawing create in Microsoft paint. From this option, whatever changes you make in Paint Drawing will get reflected into WordPad, automatically and instantly.

Picture:- The first option that you will find under the “Insert” group is one that is labeled “Picture” and as its name suggests, it is the button that you will need to click if you’re trying to insert a picture coming from a specific source on your computer’s hard drive. After clicking on the button, you should be able to see a new Window which is labeled “Select Picture” and from here, you can browse to the location of the image that you want to insert into WordPad and once you find it, simply select it and hit the “Open” button located at the bottom-right portion of the same Window. 

Date and time – Click here for date and time format option. In the Home tab click the Date & Time option which is shown in the image below. Select from one of the available formats on how  you want the date and time to be inserted.

Insert Object :-
Finally, we arrive at the last option available under the “Insert” group which is labeled “Insert object”. When you click on it you will see a small Window that bears a scroll box of all the available software that can insert an object to the document that you are working on. The process works the same as using the “Paint drawing” option and in fact, Paint is also listed as one of the options inside the scroll box. Just select the software that you want to insert object and just input whatever stuff that you want to add to the document that you are working on in WordPad. When you are done, simply click on the “Exit” button and the object will be inserted in WordPad  in an instant.

Using View Tab in WordPad

Editing:- This group contains Find, Replace and Select all.

Find:-
This option is used for find any word in the file after check match case it become case sensitive. If you want next word find then use find next option. (CTRL+F)

Replace :- Replace text in the document. If you want change word or sentence then use replace option. Find whatcontain old word and replace with contain new word.(CTRL+H)

Select All - Select all text and object in the document. (CTRL+A )

View  Tab:-  This tab contains Zoom, Show & Hide and Setting

Zoom In– Zoom in on the document.

Zoom Out – Zoom out on the current document.

100 % - 
Zoom 100% on the current picture.

Show or hide

Ruler –
Show or hide rulers you can use ruler to measures and line up text and object in the document.

Status bar – Show or hide status bar at the bottom of the document.
Setting:- This group contains Word wrap and Measurement units 
Word wrap:– Select word wrapping option to change how to text appears on your screen this does not affect how document looks when you print it.

Measurement units :
– Select measurement unit for ruler and page setup.
